Meet Jaynie Ng, Reviewer at Sydney Dramaturgical

Singapore-born, New Zealand-bred, and just like many other Kiwis, I've come to call Sydney home.

Since migrating, the arts scene in Sydney has absolutely blown me away, introducing me to so many different shows, formats, and ideas. I've been incredibly lucky to be able to experience this world.

By Day, By Night

By day, I work in technology, constantly analysing user experiences and solutions whilst thinking about all possible upstream, downstream and 'side-stream' impacts, all to tell a story.

By night, I'm taking classes, watching shows and teaching dance, eager to share my knowledge while continuously learning and developing my craft.

A Practitioner's Perspective

I've always been invested in performing and what it takes to get to the stage, with experience as a dancer, actor, choreographer, props manager and costumer. I have a thorough appreciation for the considerations that shape a show.

When reviewing theatre, the analytical side of my brain melds with the creative, exploring both how a work is made and the resulting audience experiences.
