Meet Hope Pratt

Hi — my name is Hope. I am a writer, photographer, and illustrator.

I believe stories are everywhere. Whether written or performed, spoken or sang, they speak to the human condition, helping us to understand the world, ourselves, and others.

From Herat to Sydney

I was born in Denver, Colorado to two missionary parents. For six years my family lived in Herat, Afghanistan before we moved to Sydney, Australia in 2009.

Stories were how I coped with moving. They helped keep me grounded when I felt the world I knew was slipping away from me and later when I left the church, stories were there for me again.

This is why I write, why I draw, why I take photos. This is why I love to see others express themselves and their own experiences.

Study and Work

In the past few years, I have completed a Bachelor in Media and Communications majoring in Journalism and Non-fiction writing as well as an internship at City Hub.

Currently, I am undertaking a YA Novel Writing Course with Faber Academy at Allen & Unwin. One day I hope to publish a novel, but in the meantime I work as a content writer at an SEO marketing agency and create in spare time.
